Golden Hour Photography - Capturing Nature's Radiance Through the Lens

Saturday 27 April
Broad St, Old Portsmouth - 6:30pm - 2 Hours
Portsmouth Photography Group
Jon Mainwaring
The Golden Hour at sunset is a magical time for photographers - the time when the sun hits the world at a lower angle, resulting in soft, warm, and flattering light. Shots of the sea are particularly good at this time - golden light, reflections and long shadows can be used to create stunning pictures. On this photo walk we will start in Old Portsmouth and walk round to the iconic HMS Warrior taking in great views and photo opportunities along the way.

This session will be suitable for all levels of experience and a modern smartphone will be just as useful as any digital or film camera.

Great tuition. Taruun explained things really clearly, then talked us through practical examples. I now have a much better understanding of leading lines, (especially where to place the camera), and filling the frame. My biggest takeaway was using low angles to create interesting images - something I'll definitely be using. I really enjoyed the morning and also Taruun's thorough but relaxed teaching style.

This was an excellent event, Taruun was incredibly knowledgable and also very talented as a photographer. He has a great instructional and delivery manner, a naturally engaging teacher, and we were blessed to have someone so enthusiastic to share this knowledge. We were taught some excellent tips and techniques, I do already have some photography experience and I took away a good few pearls of wisdom. Very worthwhile, good atmosphere, first class in my opinion!
